SasView Tutorial

TITLE: SasView - an interactive tutorial and discussion

ABSTRACT:

This 2h tutorial will provide a broad overview of the latest release of SasView followed by some hands-on demonstrations (the student can/should follow along on their laptops) of several of the most important features such as fitting data and how to integrate new models (e.g. found in the literature but not available currently in SasView).

We will begin with a basic overview of the layout and functionality of the latest release of SasView, which should be 6.0.0 by the time of the workshop, as well as where to find help. This will be followed by a hands on demo of some of the main features including data fitting and how to use some of the other perspectives. The data used for these demos should all be included in the SasView package in the “example_data” folder so students can continue to experiment with the features after the class. Finally we will use the built in tools to learn how to very easily add new custom models and end with a discussion of future hopes for the package along with ways the participants can become involved in shaping the future of SasView.   As time permits, we may briefly touch on the scripting interface to SasView (e.g. by using Jupyter notebooks).
